Ginny Steeves

Ginny Steeves is a teacher, dance educator, and choreographer from Fredericton N.B..  She began dancing at the age of 3 with the Diana Webster School of Ballet and has been dancing and/or teaching ever since.  As a dancer, Ginny studied at Dance Fredericton, The National Ballet School, and the Toronto Metropolitan (formerlyRyerson) University Professional Dance program under Nadia Potts, Karen Duplisea, and Vicky St. Denys.  She has performed in countless shows and choreographed in the genres of jazz, ballet, musical theatre, modern, and contemporary.  Along with a Bachelor and Master of Education, Ginny completed all levels of Dance Educator certification through Dance Education Canada with distinction. Committed to professional training and unique opportunities, Ginny recently co-wrote the provincial curriculum for the high school course ‘Dance 110’ for the New Brunswick public education system. She also developed and became co-director of the first non-competitive youth dance festival in the Maritimes, Youth Dance Fest East, now in its third year of operation.

Marcia Dysart

Marcia Dysart is a dancer, choreographer, educator, and collaborator based in Saint John, New Brunswick. Known for her interdisciplinary approach, she creates works with musicians, visual artists, filmmakers, and dancers, fostering collaborative projects across various art forms. Marcia’s work has received recognition from the New Brunswick Arts Board and the Saint John Community Arts Funding Program and has been presented across Atlantic Canada, including at the New Brunswick Museum, Imperial Theatre, Contact East, and the Saint John Contemporary Dance Festival. Her dance film We Walk Invisible, created with cinematographer Michael Mohan, was featured at the Atlantic Dance Film Festival and highlighted by the Canada Dance Assembly.  Currently, Marcia is developing The Shadow Self, a collaborative project supported by artsnb with artist Deanna Musgrave, filmmaker Michael Mohan, and Juno nominated Inuk soprano Deantha Edmunds. As a founding director and former chair of Connection Dance Works, a professional contemporary dance company in Saint John, Marcia plays an integral role in advancing the company’s mandate to grow the regional contemporary dance audience and provide new opportunities for collaboration among artists. The company has been honored with a Saint John Original award for excellence in dance.  A passionate advocate for arts education, Marcia has developed dance curricula for schools and works with students and teachers to enhance accessibility to the arts. She serves on boards and juries to support arts education and growth. Marcia holds a Bachelor of Education and Science and certifications in Progressing Ballet Technique and Horton Technique. She is a graduate from Canada’s National Academy of Dance Education and recently completed her certification with The American Ballet Theatre’s National Curriculum Training. Marcia is also the proud owner and director of First City School of Dance in Saint John, NB.
